Matthew is a Masters of Counselling student who is completing his practicum, and providing low-cost counselling, at Alliance Counselling and Assessment. He strives to create a non-judgmental, culturally-sensitive, and welcoming space, and is passionate about empowering individuals to reach their full potential and build a life they can cherish. Matthew believes therapy is a collaborative experience, viewing every individual as an expert on their own life with the capacity to create change. He approaches therapy from a place of curiosity, using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to make each person feel safe, respected, and understood. He has experience working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, addictions, emotional dysregulation, and trauma, as well as people identifying as BIPOC and/or 2SLGBTQ+. In his spare time, you can find Matthew exploring the natural beauty of amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, also known as Edmonton, or inside watching a movie or reading with his cat. |
