Join Our Board

Alliance Counselling and Assessment Outreach Services is rebuilding its nonprofit board with care, clarity, and intention. We invite you to be part of a trauma-informed, inclusive leadership team.


Who We Are
Empowering Communities Through Trauma Informed Care
We provide accessible mental health and assessment services, grounded in equity, compassion, and ethical practice.  Out outreach spans regional communities, graduate programs, and nonprofit networks - always with respect for lived experience and cultural humility.

Roles & Support

Support Offered:
•     Trauma-informed onboarding
•     Mentorship and optional buddy system
•     Virtual and in-person meeting options
•     Clear expectations and communication norms 

Chair

The Chair guides the board’s strategic direction, facilitates inclusive decision-making, and ensures trauma-informed governance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
•     Lead board meetings with clarity, warmth, and structure
•     Support collaborative goal-setting and accountability
•     Serve as a liaison between board and leadership team
•     Uphold ethical, transparent governance
Ideal Qualities:
•     Strong facilitation and communication skills
•     Comfort with leadership and consensus-building
•     Commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive practice

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees financial stewardship, ensuring transparency, accessibility, and sustainability in budgeting and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
•     Review financial statements and budgets
•     Support ethical financial decision-making
•     Help translate financial information into plain language
•     Collaborate on grant and funding strategies (optional)
Ideal Qualities:
•     Financial literacy or willingness to learn
•     Attention to detail and clarity
•     Respect for diverse economic backgrounds and access needs

Secretary

The Secretary ensures clear documentation, communication, and record-keeping that supports trauma-informed governance.
Key Responsibilities:
•     Take and share meeting minutes
•     Maintain board records and schedules
•     Support communication between board members
•     Help uphold transparency and accessibility
Ideal Qualities:
•     Organized and responsive
•     Strong writing and communication skills
•     Respect for confidentiality and clarity

Members-at-large
Members-at-Large contribute their unique perspectives, lived experience, and skills to support the board’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
•     Participate in board meetings and decision-making
•     Offer insight from personal, professional, or community experience
•     Support outreach, onboarding, or special projects (optional)
Ideal Qualities:
•     Passion for trauma-informed mental health and equity
•     Willingness to learn and collaborate
•     Respect for diverse voices and experiences
